How to read a mountain webcam

  • An image from the valley floor does not show what happens at 2,500 m: cloud and wind change with altitude.
  • Check the capture time. Many cameras refresh every few minutes and give no useful information at night.
  • A webcam is no substitute for the avalanche bulletin or the mountain forecast.

Before you go

Check the official sources before doing the activity. The streams depend on third parties and may be offline without notice.
